Stuff I’ve Seen at the Air Canada Centre

In honour of absolutely nothing, here’s an updated list of all stuff I’ve seen at the Air Canada Centre. I sat in the platinums for both Leaf games I saw this month–I was on the boards for the second one–and it cost me a grand total of zero dollars. I know the best people.

Wow! I’ve had lots of great nights at the ACC, but if I were whittling them down to a top five–and I am–I’d rank them as follows:

  1. The second night of Pearl Jam’s 2006 Air Canada Centre run, which was one of the absolute greatest concerts I’ve attended
  2. The Who in 2006, which was also one of the absolute greatest concerts I’ve attended; I almost collapsed on my way out I was shaking so hard
  3. Leafs vs. Flames in 2006, when Mats Sundin scored his 500th career goal, shorthanded, in overtime, to complete his hat trick
  4. The second of the Hip’s three-night stand on the Man Machine Poem tour. I went to all three. The first and third shows were great; the second was a pantheon concert. I’ve seen the Hip seven times at the ACC…and counting, until we hear otherwise.
  5. Leafs vs. Carolina, 2002 Eastern Conference Finals, for reasons both good and bad.

I can’t wait to keep updating this list!

  1. So, I've been to 8 of those concerts with you (and obviously none of those hockey games). Highlights:

#14 – 'This song is called NEW MILLENIUM CYANIDE CHRIST!'

#16 Rockin' In The Free World (a version not played by Pearl Jam)

#46 Bad Acid Trip remains in my top five worst bands ever. Really, dude, putting the mic in your mouth, growling and crawling on stage?

    #57 'I've got memories, I've got shit'

#60 Foos acoustic and Bob Dylan. If I hadn't been so exhausted, I'd have enjoyed it more. 🙂

  2. And none of the basketball games either, I don't think…

But to expand upon those points:

#14. Undisputed highlight of Meshuggah's set: the dramatic pause before “New Millennium Cyanide Christ.”

#16. Remember when I called it? Better yet, remember how you and I and NO ONE ELSE INSIDE THE AIR CANADA CENTRE stood for all of Alanis' set? 😉

#46. I might put them in the top three; off-hand, the only worse arena acts I've seen were Tweak Bird and Tomohawk, whose one common denominator was, of course, Tool.

#57. I'm SO glad you saw that one and not the one from the night before.

#60. I'm sure I'd have loved it if our seats weren't so high up, but that Foo Fighters set was incredible. Triangle solo…hehehe… 😉

  3. I've definitely never been to the ACC without you.

Want to wager a guess re: amount of money spent on tickets to events at the ACC? 😛
