First of all, I didn’t know what a merkin was until yesterday–which is odd, since (among other things) there’s a Pearl Jam EP called Merkin Ball that contains, among other songs, “Long Road,” which is my favourite song of theirs.
Secondly, check out the collegiate-sweater-sweatpants ensemble:
Thirdly, this picture was taken yesterday by my friend/former coworker/killer blogger Tristan, who came over after work so we could sample a bottle of Cadeuceus wine (35-for-35 update!). Cadeuceus’ chief winemaker is Maynard James Keenan, ostensible lead singer of Tool who nonetheless thinks his ultimate legacy will be as a winemaker and not as a musician. If the bottle of his 2012 red blend we drank yesterday’s any indication he may actually be onto something: it was legitimately the best wine I’ve ever tasted, and I’m not just saying that because the guy who made it wrote “Lateralus.”
Fourthly, Tool really needs to release new music.
Fifthly, a second bottle of Cadeuceus is waiting for me in Sam’s basement. It’ll be opened tomorrow night to celebrate my arrival in Toronto and the start of our next big adventure. (You did know I’m moving to Toronto, didn’t you??)
