Faith No More in Toronto

Here’s something I never thought I’d say: I saw Faith No More yesterday! More later. For now, here’s a setlist that’s entirely bolded because I’d never seen them before.

Set:

  • The Real Thing
  • Be Aggressive
  • Everything’s Ruined
  • Evidence
    • Started From the Bottom [Drake] (tease)
  • Epic
  • Black Friday
  • Caffeine
  • Midlife Crisis
    • Jump [Van Halen] (tease) (It’s hard to explain what happened here. setlist.fm describes it as an “interlude,” and that’s kind of it–but that doesn’t fully encapsulate what it’s like seeing Mike Patton singing the words to “Midlife Crisis” with Roddy Bottum playing the “Jump” keyboard riff underneath. Van Halen were across the parking lot from Ricoh Coliseum at the Molson Amphitheatre yesterday.)
  • Cone of Shame (which isn’t my favourite Sol Invictus track by any means–so learning it might’ve replaced “A Small Victory” in the set was a really bad moment as Sam can attest)
  • The Gentle Art of Making Enemies
  • Easy [The Commodores]
  • Separation Anxiety
  • Matador (probably my favourite Sol Invictus song and one of two songs, along with “Everything’s Ruined,” I was especially hoping to hear…well, them and “A Small Victory,” which I didn’t even realize was a possibility till discovering it’d made three of the four previous setlists)
  • Ashes to Ashes
  • Superhero

1st encore:

  • Motherfucker
  • I Started a Joke [The Bee Gees]

2nd encore:

  • We Care a Lot
