Quotable King

“If you want to be a writer, you must do two things above all others: read a lot and write a lot. There’s no way around these two things that I’m aware of, no shortcut.”
— Stephen King

I’m no fan of Stephen King’s. The one book of his I’ve tried reading–It–I abandoned, first figuratively and then (in an El Salvador school’s staff room) literally. Yet this quote is as succinct a summation of the writer’s craft as I’ve ever read. Ironic, don’t you think?
