It Really Did Happen That Way

I spent the evening on the living room floor; I spent the evening a year ago today at Copps Coliseum in Hamilton, sitting sidestage in front of Pete Townshend and Roger Daltry and hearing “Naked Eye” live for the first and (presumably) only time. Honestly, I never thought it would actually happen; even when Townshend started strumming the opening notes, even when Daltry sang the song’s first line (“Take a little dope, and walk out in the air…”), I had to pinch myself, my immediate response a single, gasped word: “No!” It’s a moment that’ll never be topped.
