Toronto love Pearl Jam–and the feelings, one suspects, are entirely reciprocated. The band used the GTA as base camp for a third of 2005’s Canadian tour; eight months later they launched a world tour with back-to-back nights at the Air Canada Centre (the latter of which still ranks as the second-greatest concert I’ve ever seen). So it was hardly surprising that Pearl Jam scheduled a one-off at the Molson Amphitheatre this summer–nor that the concert reportedly sold out the second it went on sale.
A similar thing happened for the band’s previous Amphitheatre show. In both instances, a large Ten Club contingent will account for most of the venue’s lower two levels–but that still leaves the 300s, 400s, and lawns for the general public. And the public, it seems, is just as excited as we are for the band’s first Toronto area show since 2006. August 21 can’t come quickly enough.
