That’s Bernard Berrian hauling in a Tarvaris Jackson pass for a 41-yard touchdown to give the Vikings an early (and, as it turned out, nearly insurmountable) 14-0 lead. Minnesota led 28-0 at the half and went on to beat the Arizona Cardinals 35-14, a win that reduced their magic number for clinching the NFC North to a single, solitary “one.” Put differently, one more Minnesota win or one more Chicago loss will give the Vikings their first division championship in eight years (which does not mean I’m banking on it: I know this team far too well). Jackson, meanwhile, looks like a totally different player from the one who got benched in Week 3. Today he threw four touchdown passes–the first time a Viking quarterback’s done that since Sir Daunte Culpepper versus the Packers in 2004.
Oh, and speaking of the Packers, they were mathematically eliminated from playoff contention today. That–combined with the Vikings win and the God Squad winning/BEAST MODE losing their respective fantasy football league playoff games–made this a pretty good day for football.
