Manchester United 0 – 0 Reading

The Premiership is back, and after twenty-seven years of near-misses my father and I finally got to Old Trafford together. Unfortunately, Steve Coppell’s Reading side marked the occasion by playing dull, listless football (i.e., sticking ten men behind the ball and hanging on for dear life), and while United dominated possession they couldn’t make the final breakthrough. Also, Wayne Rooney broke his foot again (thank goodness for Carlos Tevez, who we saw on his way out of the stadium afterwards). So it wasn’t a glorious start to the season–but hey, it’s great to have the Premiership back, and it was truly glorious to finally see United at Old Trafford with my dad. Pictures to follow; London tomorrow!
