It’s the hottest day of the year thus far, and you know what that means: it’s the perfect day to move an entire apartment! That’s what Bri and I did this morning…well, only after she took the redeye flight from Calgary and I woke up at quarter to seven to meet her at the airport. Her basement apartment on Borden Street, where Bri had lived since she moved to Toronto two years ago, now sits empty; most of her things are in storage, while the rest of it is scattered throughout my house. As for Bri…well, she’s moved in with us for the summer. I’m sure some people envision this as being the most awkward living situation since Ryan Atwood moved in with the Cohens (and yes, I’m currently watching Season 1 of The O.C.), but it’s actually not: she’s basically lived here for two years anyway, so making it semi-permanent wasn’t that big of a deal. Which doesn’t negate the fact that I was just subjected to two-and-a-half hours of unwanted manual labour in the scorching heat. Some parts of the boyfriend/girlfriend contract really suck.
In the meantime, neither Bri nor I have any intention of leaving the house for the rest of the day. Tonight at 8, meanwhile, KKAC is back in action after a two-night layoff. The Senators are already in deep trouble; lose tonight, and you can pretty much kiss Stanley goodbye. For the record, of the 30 times who’ve fallen behind 2-0 in the Stanley Cup Finals, only one–the 1971 Montreal Canadiens–has come back to win the title. So while tonight isn’t technically a must-win game, it’s pretty frigging close.
