Can You See The Real Me?

I forgot to mention this yesterday, but July 22 is a significant date in my life. Nine years ago yesterday, I saw the Who in Minneapolis. It was my first-ever concert–and it would change my life:

I Am the Sea
The Real Me
Quadrophenia
Cut My Hair
The Punk Meets the Godfather
Dirty Jobs
Helpless Dancer
Is It In My Head?
I’ve Had Enough
5:15
Sea and Sand
Drowned
Bellboy
Dr. Jimmy
The Rock
Love, Reign O’er Me
———-
Won’t Get Fooled Again (acoustic)
Behind Blue Eyes
Substitute
I Can’t Explain
Who Are You

Twenty-one songs, which cumulatively changed me as a person. I wouldn’t know it for a few more years–at the time I was still more-or-less interested in Broadway musicals–and it would take a few more concerts (namely Our Lady Peace and my first-ever Pearl Jam show) to reinforce it. But the seeds were definitely sewn that night in Minneapolis in 1997…and nine years later, as I eagerly anticipate seeing the Who two more times, it seemed like a good time to remember seeing them for the first time.
